TUTORIAL 1 of 3: USING SHAPES This first video is a tutorial about how to draw by starting with basic shapes. It is video number one of a three part series. The character being drawn is named Jamal. He is the lead character of a graphic novel that I am currently working on titled SPiDERS. It is a story about a little boy lost in a world of doors and windows. The story is written and illustrated by myself. I call this project a visual Haiku. |

In this stage of the tutorial we commit to our line work with heavier strokes, more definition of lighting and tonal changes. |

In this final stage of the tutorial we finish our work by inking. Inking only what we see. Soon there will be another tutorial on how to extract all of the red line work by using digital software such as Adobe Photoshop and Streamline. |
